Safeguarding Policy
Tutor e all
1. Purpose and Scope
Tutor e all is committed to providing a safe and secure online learning environment for all students. Many of our users are under 18, and as such, safeguarding and child protection are our highest priorities. This policy applies to all tutors, students, parents/guardians, and staff engaged with our platform.
The purpose of this policy is to:
Protect children and young people who receive tuition through Tutor e all.
Provide tutors and staff with clear expectations, responsibilities, and procedures to ensure safety.
Ensure compliance with UK safeguarding legislation, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Working Together to Safeguard Children, and the Prevent Duty.
2. Roles and Responsibilities
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): A senior staff member acts as the DSL and is the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns. The DSL can be contacted using the help@tutoreall.com email address.
Tutors: All tutors must attend a training webinar prior to delivering their first session. This will contact a segment on safeguarding training. They are required to uphold safeguarding principles at all times.
Parents/Guardians: Must provide consent for under-18s to use the platform and are encouraged to be present or nearby during lessons.
Students: Must follow the platform’s Code of Conduct and report any concerns to a parent/guardian, tutor, or directly to the DSL.
3. Safer Recruitment of Tutors
We operate a strict safer recruitment policy to ensure tutors are suitable to work with children. This includes:
Enhanced DBS checks reviewed prior to approval.
Verification of identity, qualifications, and teaching experience.
Reference checks where appropriate.
Ongoing monitoring of tutor conduct and suitability.
4. Training and Safeguarding Expectations
All tutors must attend a mandatory safeguarding webinar covering: KCSIE, whistleblowing, Prevent Duty, professional conduct, and online safety.
Tutors must follow professional boundaries, including:
No personal contact details exchanged (phone numbers, personal emails, or social media).
Communication only through the Tutor e all platform.
No private tuition arrangements outside the platform.
Modest dress and excellent conduct during online lessons.
5. Online Lesson Safety
To safeguard both students and tutors:
All lessons are delivered via Zoom or Google Meet.
All lessons are recorded and securely stored for review if required.
Tutors must conduct lessons from a neutral, professional environment.
Students are encouraged to use neutral/blurred backgrounds and avoid private spaces such as bedrooms where possible.
Class sizes are capped (maximum 30 students per session) to ensure proper supervision.
6. Responding to Concerns
If a safeguarding concern arises:
The tutor or student should immediately report it to the DSL using the dedicated safeguarding contact form or email (help@tutoreall.com)
The DSL will review and, if necessary, escalate the concern to external agencies (e.g. Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), children’s social care, or police).
All concerns will be logged securely and confidentially.
In emergencies, immediate contact with emergency services will be made.
Whistleblowing concerns may be raised confidentially with the DSL or an external authority if necessary.
7. Recording and Data Security
Lesson recordings are retained securely for a fixed period (up to 90 days unless required longer for investigation).
Only authorised members of staff can access recordings.
All safeguarding records, including DBS certificates and training logs, are kept in a secure, database.
8. Prevent Duty
Tutors are trained to recognise and report signs of radicalisation or extremist views in line with the UK Government’s Prevent Duty. Any such concerns will be reported to the DSL and, where necessary, escalated to the relevant authorities.
9. Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Tutor e all recognises that students with SEND may be particularly vulnerable. Tutors will receive guidance on adapting safeguarding approaches and communication for students with additional needs.
10. Behaviour and Misconduct
Tutors: Any breach of safeguarding principles, misconduct, or attempts to contact students outside the platform will result in immediate investigation and may lead to permanent removal from the platform.
Students: Inappropriate behaviour, including offensive language, harassment, or sharing inappropriate/sexualised content, may result in a permanent ban at the discretion of Tutor e all.
11. Monitoring and Review
This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed annually or earlier if there are significant legislative or organisational changes.
